Sai Baba Photo Vastu: Correct Direction and Placement at Home

The short answer. Place a Sai Baba photo or idol facing east or north-east, at eye level rather than above head height, in the pooja room or living room. Avoid the south, south-east and south-west, and avoid the kitchen, bathroom or bedroom.

Why east and north-east

North-east, the Ishan corner, is the most sacred direction in Vastu and the standard placement for any spiritual idol. East is named just as often for Sai Baba specifically, since it is the direction of the rising sun and of new energy entering the home.

Eye level, not head height

This is the detail most guides for other deities skip, but it comes up repeatedly for Sai Baba specifically. Rather than placing the image high on the wall as is conventional for most devotional art, Sai Baba is traditionally kept at eye level, so a devotee can look directly at him while praying.

Where it works in the home

• Pooja room. The most traditional placement, raised on a clean platform or chowki rather than directly on the floor.

• Living room. A good option if there is no dedicated pooja space. Place in the north-east corner.

• Entrance. Less commonly specified than for Ganesha, but acceptable if the space is kept uncluttered.

A note on simplicity

Sai Baba's own teaching emphasised humility and simple living, and several Vastu sources note this when discussing placement, suggesting plain materials over anything ornate. That is worth keeping in mind when choosing the piece itself. A quiet, well-made image suits the subject better than an elaborate one.
